Counselling Leeds

A healthy mind and a healthy body are intrinsically linked. We look after our bodies – exercising and eating the right foods, but our mental health is just as important, and sometimes we need support.  This is even more important in today’s climate of pressure and uncertainty.

There are times for all of us when life feels too much. A sudden event could throw us into crisis, or we may find it an ongoing struggle to see direction or purpose in our lives. This is where counselling can help. In person-centred therapy, you will be listened to unconditionally, without judgement which can help you make better sense of your thoughts and feelings.  Counselling can help you see patterns and recognise how these impact on your life.  It provides an opportunity to explore meanings and relationships with others which will help you understand your sense of self.

Katie trained as a person-centred counsellor and works with adults and young people aged 14+.  She is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, fully DBS checked and safeguard trained by Leeds city council.  As well as working privately she also works for a charity supporting families and young people via a school service across Leeds and Bradford.

She has recently completed further training in menopause CBT which is a tailored form of psychological care to help educate, manage symptoms and embrace this stage in life. To enhance this knowledge she also completed training with Newson Health (Confidence in Menopause) and the Royal College of Psychiatrists (Mental Health Through the Perimenopause and Menopause).

For many menopause is a time of major disruption physically, emotionally and psychologically. Chaotic hormones can equal mood disturbances, weight gain, a sense of loss of self and cognitive changes which feel debilitating.

“I am passionate about helping you overcome the emotional challenges it brings and help you find yourself again. I want to assist you in this natural stage of life in a positive and empowering way. With the right support and symptom management we can turn this into an opportunity for resilience and growth.”

Menopause is inevitable but that doesn’t mean it needs to be unbearable.”
